Patagonia
Patagonia
The
Patagonia constitutes the southern part of the American
continent, with two clearly defined regions: the Andean
Patagonia or the Western Lake District and, to the east,
the Patagonic
Plateau or Sea Littoral.
The Andean Patagonia or the Lake District:
This are is a world on its own, populated by humid forests
with a unique wildlife, surrounded by rocky mountains,
valleys, lakes and glaciers that get together in this
spot to become one of the most astonishing landscapes
in the whole world, which until these days still preserves
its natural state. These great land extensions are under
the protection of National Parks, such as the Nahuel
Huapí, Arrayanes, Alerces, Lanín and,
more towards the south, the glaciers, Lake Puelo and
Tierra del Fuego. Its most important tourist cities
and winter sports centers are Bariloche, by the Lake
Nahuel Huapi after which the national park is named,
Villa La Angostura and San Martín de Los Andes
(whose path runs along seven lakes of supreme beauty).
Traveling southbound, we find the city of Esquel and
the national park Los Alerces with its millenary forests.
Always heading south, there is the Argentino Lake, the
Cafayate and the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier. In
the southernmost tip of Patagonia, we come across Ushuaia
by several channels.
Outdoor activities: Sport fishing in
general; fly fishing; small game and big game hunting
(in authorized game preserves); trekking, horseback
riding, mountain biking, scuba diving and other water
sports. |
