Tango

Talking about tango is inexorably talking about Buenos Aires. Its origin can be traced back to the fusion of several musical rhythms from the suburbs. At first, it was popular only in sites typically frequented by the immigrant population, namely cabarets, brothels and low-class clubs.
The tango was born as a dance, which at the beginning was curiously practiced only between men or between men and prostitutes. As time went by, it spread amongst other social classes, gaining popularity until finally succeeding internationally.
Carlos Gardel, an Argentine music icon, was the first local singer to implement the “tango song”, with its traditional melody and lyrics talking of passions, local places and love, all sung with his incredible and unmistakable voice that is nowadays a reflection of the city of Buenos Aires.
At present, the tango constitutes the soul and voice of the city, a sensual dance that interweaves two bodies into one.
